"Sun of Moscow" - the largest Ferris wheel in Europe

Since the autumn of 2022, one of the most popular and most visited places by tourists in Moscow has become the Ferris wheel with the original name "Sun of Moscow". To date, the "Sun of Moscow" became the tallest Ferris wheel in all of Europe. The structure was built using the most advanced technologies and provides unprecedented security measures for visitors.

A new Ferris wheel is located in the most popular recreation area for Muscovites and guests of the capital – VDNH. The design of the attraction has a height of 140 meters, and this is not a random choice. The creators of the attraction clearly had a desire to exceed the achievements of the British, who built a Ferris wheel in London with a height of 135 meters. Since the opening of this attraction, which took place on City Day, the highest Ferris wheel in Europe has been officially recognized as the Sun of Moscow.

Attraction features

The Ferris wheel raises 30 cabins to a height of almost 140 meters, each of which is designed for 15 visitors. From a height you can observe the capital and its surroundings at a distance of up to 50 kilometers. All booths have transparent walls, and five booths are equipped with transparent floors. The developers of the project did not begin to make a transparent floor in all the booths, because out of habit a person with weak nerves can even lose consciousness at a height from the visual effect of hovering over the city.

All booths are equipped with climate control and an alarm button for communication with the operator. The Ferris wheel makes a full turn in 18 minutes, the entry and landing zones are separated. Naturally, 18 minutes may not seem like enough – You can rent a cabin at any time. The organizers propose to celebrate at the attraction "Sun of Moscow" any celebration, corporate event and even a wedding.

Safety measures

The whole structure weighs more than 1800 tons, and in order for the foundation to withstand such a load, an original solution was applied. At a depth of 20 meters, high-strength reinforced concrete piles are installed, on which the supports of the Ferris wheel are held. The layout of the attraction has been tested in a wind tunnel. "Sun of Moscow" able to withstand hurricane winds – up to 44 meters per second.

Entertainment will work all year round, unless, of course, abnormal heat or frosts happen in the capital. The creators of the "Sun" guarantee trouble-free operation of equipment at temperatures from -10 to +40 degrees.
