Space Museum

Space Museum

All Russians are proud of the country's space achievements. Almost everyone in childhood dreamed of flying into space, seeing other planets and looking at the Earth through the porthole of a spaceship. Those who want to revive childhood memories can visit the Museum of Cosmonautics in Moscow. This is a huge space that is dedicated to the history of space exploration, as well as the future development of technology.

A bit about the history of the museum

It was planned in 1964 to organize a museum dedicated to space achievements. But it opened only 15 years later. The main idea of the museum at that time – creating the illusion for visitors that they are in space.

For a long time, the exposition was not updated at all. The building gradually began to deteriorate. That is why in 2006 its restoration began. It was large-scale, so it took 4 years. It was possible to completely update the appearance of the museum, strengthen the structure and improve the alley. The museum has a second floor. Additional areas appeared, where classrooms were located and films began to be shown. Exhibition halls have also increased significantly.

The main direction of the new expositions has now become a direct acquaintance with the work and life of astronauts. Also, visitors have the opportunity to feel in orbit.

Exhibitions and exhibits

Today, the entire space of the museum is divided into thematic zones. Here are models of satellites, ships, a station, as well as objects that have been in space.

In the hall dedicated to the beginning of the space age, you can see a duplicate of the Earth's satellite, a mockup of the legendary Vostok apparatus, station models and many other equally interesting exhibits.

Another hall is dedicated to those who created the era of space. Here, in the form of installations, Korolev's office and the house, or rather its veranda, Tsiolkovsky are presented. Also here you can see the designer's personal belongings and a model of a rocket that ran on liquid fuel.

In the next room, visitors will get to know how astronauts live in orbit. There is an opportunity to see models of the Mir, Salyut, Soyuz ships.

In the hall, which is dedicated to the study of planets and the moon, there are also a lot of interesting exhibits. These are duplicates and models of devices that were used to explore the Moon and the planets closest to the Earth.

The exposition of the museum is extremely diverse. We have listed only some of its halls. There really is something to see here. You should definitely visit this museum to see and learn a lot of interesting things.
