Mitino park

Mitino park

The Mitino Landscape Park, with an area of 140 hectares, is located in Moscow on the territory of the Mitino district, not far from the Volokolamskaya metro station. The Baryshikha River, 3 km long, flows throughout the park. In addition, there are Bolshoi and Maly Penyaginsky ponds in the park. The arrangement of the park began in 2003, and since then the park has improved significantly, now it is a great place for family weekends, walking with children or spending time with friends. By decision of the local authorities, the park was given the status of a historical monument and construction was prohibited on the territory of this area, since many monuments with a thousand-year history were found in the park.

Basically, the park consists of a forest that is equipped with lawns for picnics, paths for walking, walking bridges that lead you through reservoirs and bike paths. It grows a lot of oaks, birches and many other types of trees. Also there you can find lakes with grassy and sandy beaches. The ponds are used for walking, swimming and recreational fishing. For children in the park there is a children's archaeological center, playgrounds for children of different ages, each of which has its own uniqueness, and in winter an artificial skating rink with an area of about 4 thousand square meters is opened. Also, excursions and ecological quests are often held in the park, where children can get acquainted with the fauna of the park and its inhabitants.

One of the impressive places of this park is the Penyaginsky Pond. This place is located in the center of the Mitino Landscape Park. The reservoir got its name from the village of Penyagino, which used to be in the park. In 1985, the village was demolished, but the name remained on the map of the area. The water area of the pond covers an area of about 6 hectares. Such feathered friends as swans and ducks do not leave indifferent not only children, but also adults.  They swim close to people, and can also go on land.

For lovers of active recreation in the park, you can find rental offices that operate year-round. In the warm season, guests can ride scooters, bicycles and even velomobiles. In winter, visitors can rent skis or tubing.

The park is also suitable for people with disabilities.  The entrance is equipped for wheelchair users, as well as parking.
