History of the shrine

The Church of the Great Martyr Barbara has always been considered one of the most revered in the capital. Date of its erection – 1514 The temple was built under Prince Vasily Ioannovich. The project was developed by the talented Italian architect Aleviz Fryazin, who also created the famous Archangel Cathedral of the Kremlin.
