In this multi-million city, there are several hundred monuments and historical sites, visiting each of which will take a huge amount of time. Therefore, it is important to know the most significant places in the capital in order to correctly compose your tourist route.

Red Square.
According to one legend, the name of the square was coined not because it was built of red bricks, but because of its incredible beauty, since the word "red" is synonymous with the modern word "beautiful". Red Square is really beautiful, because it is surrounded by many historical buildings, such as the Kremlin, the State Historical Museum and the Lenin Mausoleum. Moscow Red Square is known all over the world. Therefore, absolutely every tourist is obliged to visit this place, it is from it that the entire further route around the Russian capital should begin.
Moscow Kremlin.
Previously, the Moscow Kremlin was repeatedly burned and restored, this affected its size and appearance. Several centuries ago, the Kremlin was built of white brick. After its dismantling, the white brick was replaced with a red one. Since then, this fortress has stood along the perimeter of beautiful churches and historical museums. In addition to them, outside the walls of the Kremlin is its central part – Cathedral Square. Other buildings are located next to it, but the most interesting and unusual can be called the Archangel and Assumption Cathedral. Walking along the Cathedral Square you can see the Tsar Cannon and the Tsar Bell.
The history of the Moscow Kremlin is unique in its own way. Initially, it was built of wood and served to protect against enemies. Now we see it as a powerful red brick fortress, which was built about 500 years ago! The Kremlin was built under the guidance of Italian masters, and therefore it has been preserved until our time.
GIM
GIM – this is just an abbreviation, and so it is customary to call it the State Historical Museum. This museum is one of the largest national museums of the Russian Federation. And this is not at all surprising, since it is two-story and has 40 huge halls. In total, there are about 4 million exhibits, for viewing which it is recommended to allocate a whole day, otherwise you will not have time to go around all the rooms. Exhibits in the State Museum vary in age. Among them you can find both ancient and more modern versions.
The construction of the State Museum was started in the 19th century by order of Alexander II. If you plan to go to Moscow, then visit the State Historical Museum, you will not regret it.
Nikolskaya street.
Tourists from all over the world dream of walking along Nikolskaya Street. This street is considered the most beautiful in Moscow. It has existed since the 18th century and used to be an excellent place for the residence of manufacturers. A little later, it became a stronghold of the Red Army.
Nikolskaya Street got its name thanks to the monastery of St. Nicholas the Old built on its territory. This street is famous for the fact that it is completely decorated with multi-colored garlands. There are so many garlands that in some places you can't even see the sky. Walking along it and admiring the scenery is definitely worth it.
It all started with two brothers – Sergei and Pavel Tretyakov. Both brothers were passionate about collecting various paintings, as well as sculptures, not only by Russian but also by foreign authors. Over time, they collected a whole collection, which was first presented to the Moscow population in 1867. At first, only the estate was enough for them, but with the rapid increase in the number of exhibits, the brothers began to think about opening their own full-fledged gallery. And they succeeded, the gallery was opened in 1874. In it they stirred many masterpieces, now there are more than 200 thousand of them at the moment. In the Tretyakov Gallery you will see the most famous paintings around the world: Black Square, Bogatyrs, Horsewoman. and many others.
