Manor "Vlakhernskoe-Kuzminki"

Manor "Vlakhernskoe-Kuzminki"

Complex "Vlakhernskoe-Kuzminki" has a rich and complex history. Despite the decline of recent years, just one look at the old manor leads to the thought of the former grandeur of this building. Now residents of the capital and tourists come to this place for beautiful photos, leisurely walks and excursions that highlight the life of the nobility of the 18-19th centuries.

History of the estate

The complex was built in 1703. Initially, the estate was owned by the Stroganov dynasty. This estate was presented to Grigory Stroganov by Peter the Great for his faithful service. After the death of Grigory Dmitrievich, his son Alexander Stroganov began to manage the estate.

In 1755, the estate «Vlakhernskoe-Kuzminki» the Golitsyn family began to own. This happened thanks to the marriage union of the granddaughter of Grigory Anna and Mikhail Golitsyn. It was during the reign of Michael that the area got the look that has survived to this day.

The estate experienced many declines:

  • during the war with the French in 1812, almost all the buildings of the complex were destroyed by fire;
  • in the 20th century, the estate completely fell into disrepair – almost all buildings needed extensive restoration.

Restoration was started only in 2000 and has not yet been completed.

What to see

The complex welcomes tourists with an arch, rose gardens and manicured lawns. Moving into the park, you can see the humpbacked bridges, the reconstructed Lion's Quay, and numerous architectural structures like obelisks.

The estate itself is almost inaccessible for viewing: Animal Farm, Lord's House, Egyptian Pavilion, Bathroom House, Aviary – All this is still in a deplorable state today. But you can see other sights.

Music Pavilion and Horse Yard – these are the central objects of the complex, which combine residential houses, carriage rooms and stables.
Gray cottage, which houses the museum. Paustovsky. The building belongs to the architectural monuments of the 18th century, it was rebuilt and restored several times. Today it is a two-storey wooden house with a balcony and a mezzanine.

Servant's wing – another museum on the territory of the complex. Here tourists will be able to look at the expositions that recreate the village and noble life.

Be sure to see Blachernae Church – the stone building, which has survived to this day, was built in 1763

Estate "Vlakhernskoe-Kuzminki" — a place that became the cultural center for the landlords of the 19th century, it was called the "Russian Versailles" for more than a century. Although there is little left of the past greatness, the park ensemble still attracts many people, conquering them with picturesque landscapes and well-groomed vegetation.
