The Zurab Tsereteli Museum recreates the creative workshop of the outstanding sculptor and painter, who made a huge contribution to the development of Soviet and Georgian art. The cultural institution is located in the Presnensky district of Moscow. The museum is open to the public every day (except Monday).

Creating a workshop museum

The founding date of the museum of the talented sculptor and artist – November 3, 2009 The building is located on the street. Big Georgian. Historically, this area is associated with settlers from Georgia. Initially, a wealthy merchant lived in the house where the museum functions today. In Soviet times, the German embassy worked here.

Since 1993, by decision of the local authorities, the object has become the workshop of Zurab Tsereteli. After that, numerous masterpieces of the master appeared inside and near it. Today, this institution is a branch of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, which was founded and headed by Tsereteli himself.

Device and program for guests

The museum is an original three-story building. The entrance to it is decorated with sculptures of colored clowns, figures of talented artists, prominent historical and cultural figures.
The museum exposition includes more than 250 exhibits represented by works:

  • sculptures;
  • painting;
  • graphics.

On the ground floor, there are works dedicated to family values ​​and family traditions, which form the basis of all the master's activities. The next one contains works that reflect the Parisian and New York periods in his work. Third floor – This is an exhibition of masterpieces on all sorts of topics. A separate place is reserved for the workshop of Tsereteli himself.

Visitors are offered thematic excursions, lectures, master classes, all kinds of promotions. The museum has workshops for the younger generation, where children and teenagers are introduced to the types and genres of sculpture, techniques for creating harmonious compositions.

How to get to the attractions

Address of the Zurab Tsereteli Museum: Moscow, st. Bolshaya Gruzinskaya, 15. The cultural institution is located in the center of the capital, so it is easy to get to it. A short walk from the museum is the Zoological stop, where bus number 116 and trolleybus number 66 stop.  The nearest metro stations – "Barrikadnaya" and "Krasnopresnenskaya".

Working hours of the museum-workshop: Tuesday-Sunday, from 12.00 to 21.00.
