It is assumed that it was this apartment that became the prototype for the monastery of Stepa Likhodeev, and the main events of the novel unfolded here. Already on the way to the notorious house at number 50 guests greeted a monument in the courtyard, just behind the arch. The sculpture depicts a lanky Koroviev and a fat Hippo clutching a primus in his paws. While climbing the stairs to the fourth floor, visitors can admire the artistic work of fans of the cult novel: the walls are decorated with images of Margarita on a broomstick, the Hippopotamus trying to break into the tram, and the most vivid quotes from the novel.

The exposition of the museum itself is a typical interior of a Moscow apartment of the early twentieth century: a common kitchen from a communal apartment, a long corridor with creaking parquet and trellises against the walls, a bedroom and a personal account of Mikhail Bulgakov himself, which preserved his personal belongings.

The creators of the museum managed to very accurately convey the necessary atmosphere and spirit of the imperishable work of Bulgakov. For example, on the table in one of the rooms there is an antediluvian telephone, which obviously called Stape Lihodeyev in the variety theater with a hangover. And here there is a bottle, forgotten right on the chair, with the remnants of cognac ... The atmosphere of the “bad apartment” enchants and delays, walking along the corridor and rooms, it seems that the cat is about to meow and scurry from the bedroom to the kitchen, there will be a rattling laughter from the one-eyed Koroviev and Woland’s sonorous voice inviting you to wine tasting, and at the same time to Satan’s midnight ball.

Oh yeah, and most importantly - in the apartment and today there is a permanent inhabitant. This imposing black cat greets visitors with a haughty look and a tail held high. He will not let himself be stroked, but he will accompany him throughout the whole excursion.

By the way, after the visit to “Bad Apartment”, it will be a walk to the Patriarch's Ponds. There, on the shore, under the shade of lime trees, you will find a funny road sign: “It is forbidden to talk to strangers!”. The outlined and red-crossed out triangle depicts recognizable silhouettes of the three main characters of the novel - the magician Woland, his assistant Koroviev and the cat Behemoth. History is silent about who became the creator of this warning sign and installed it on the Patriarch's. But he is there, he makes people smile and the municipal authorities simply do not dare to remove him.
