Patriarch's Ponds

Patriarch's Ponds

Patriarch's Ponds — the generalized name of the area, including the microdistrict, a park complex with an area of 2.2 hectares and a pond. One of the most picturesque sights of the Russian capital, recognized as an object of cultural heritage. Until the beginning of the 17th century, the place was called the Goat Swamp, and then it came under the jurisdiction of the patriarchs, who gave the area its current name.

In 2003, a large-scale reconstruction of the pond and the adjacent square was carried out. Fish were released into the cleaned reservoir, ducks and swans live in the neighborhood. In the evening, the pond is illuminated by spotlights, which further enhances the mystical spirit inherent in this place.
