Panorama Museum "Battle of Borodino"

"Battle of Borodino" - the famous panorama museum, which is located in Moscow. He is especially popular. It is dedicated to the legendary war, about which so many works have been written. This attraction is located on Kutuzovsky Prospekt. It was here that the same village called Fili used to be located. The shape of the building is quite unusual. It is made in the form of a cylinder with aluminum and glass columns.

The central exhibit – a grandiose panorama dedicated to the Battle of Borodino. It was made by the famous artist Franz Roubaud. This huge painting was commissioned by the imperial court for the centenary of the victory.

The museum also contains a lot of other interesting exhibits: paintings, books, coins, equipment of the 19th century. The exposition area is really impressive.

In this museum you can see an exact copy of Kutuzov's hut. The original burned down in a fire. Also here you can see the chapel of the Archangel Michael and the bust of Kutuzov himself, made of bronze.

Panorama features

The panorama of the Battle of Borodino was created by Roubaud for two years. This is the third grandiose creation of this fairly well-known artist. He painted this picture while in Munich. The artist did not work alone on this grandiose masterpiece, he was helped by artists and the military. The dimensions of the creation are impressive: 15 * 15 meters. This canvas was delivered to the capital of Russia from Munich on special platforms by rail. Initially, a small wooden structure was built for the panorama. It could be visited already in 1912. After 20 years, due to the fact that the panorama was stored incorrectly, it was practically destroyed. Almost 50% of this magnificent creation was lost. I had to restore it. But then it turned out that there was simply no place to exhibit this picture. It was decided to build a museum specifically for this panorama. The very next year, on the 150th anniversary of the victory in the battle of 1812, this picture again appeared before the public.

In 1967, the painting was doused with flammable liquid and set on fire. Fire destroyed 60%. But even after that, the masterpiece was restored. And now guests of Moscow and Muscovites can see it again.
 
The museum constantly hosts various interesting events for children. There are excursions, games, master classes and even history lessons. All these activities are designed for children of different ages.
