Museum of the History of Chocolate and Cocoa "BEAR"

Mishka Museum – a modern exposition and exhibition complex located on the territory of the Babaevsky confectionery concern.  The main direction of the institution is educational activities in the development of the chocolate business in Russia.

History of Creation

In 2019, based on 2 collection funds of the Krasny Oktyabr factory, and concern "Babaevsky" It was decided to found a museum of the history of chocolate and cocoa "BEAR". The name of the complex was borrowed from the abbreviation of the chocolates of the same name. Unique exhibits and collections, which are filled with museum showcases, were collected bit by bit in different parts of the world. For example, some artifacts in the exhibition about the discoverers of chocolate were borrowed from the Museum of Mesoamerican Indians. Also, visitors can get acquainted with the history of the development of the largest Moscow factories.

Expositions, animation and interactive programs

Visitors of the Mishka Museum sightseeing and thematic excursions are available, including:

  • miscellaneous historical facts related to chocolate;
  • collections of unique sweets, types of packaging;
  • classes in creative laboratories, where master classes in the manufacture of sweets are held;
  • visiting existing production lines;
  • tasting and buying chocolate products.

The museum's collection consists of more than 50 thousand exhibits: packaging, brochures, tools and devices for making sweets.

During a sightseeing tour, visitors to the exposition and exhibition complex will get acquainted with the history of the appearance of chocolate, methods of processing cocoa beans, unique recipes and modern technology for obtaining sweets.

Order of visit

Visitors of the museum can get acquainted with unique exhibits and interactive installations on their own or as part of an organized group. Each excursion begins with viewing a showcase with figurines of fairy-tale characters, among which the largest is the Chocolate Bear. Its weight is over 80 kg. Further, visitors enter the hall with an exposition dedicated to the ancient Mayan tribes. They are considered the discoverers of the beneficial qualities of chocolate. The next hall is represented by the exhibits of the Red October factories. and "Babaevsky". The excursion program also includes a visit to the operating lines for the production of sweets.
