And sincerely believed in it.

Some history of the house

The legendary house is located along the embankment with a magnificent view of the Moscow Kremlin. Since 2016, the museum has been included in the Gulag. The transfer of the former government house to the state museum opened new doors for the museum. Over the past few years, the exposition has been expanded. The main hall was designed in accordance with the life that was observed in intelligent families who lived here in the 1930s.

Today, meetings with the descendants of the residents of the legendary building are often held here. These are not just people, they are artists and politicians. Each of them left their mark on the history of the country.

The house on the embankment was built and put into operation in 1931. The building included 505 apartments, which were located on the territory of 8 modules. Even then, clubs, gyms were organized in these buildings, a theater stage was equipped. Living quarters and entrances were decorated with artistic elements, which were brought to life by eminent restorers.

During the Great Patriotic War, many residents went to the front. The rest were taken to safe areas. Politicians and the military after the victory inhabited the house for about 20 more years. The trend changed after the events that resulted in the relocation of the Moscow Theater to a local club. Since then, the residents of the house began to laugh at art historians and cultural workers. Tourists began to appear more often.

Modern Museum House on the embankment

For the first time, people started talking about the government house as a museum in the 90s of the last century. First, an exposition dedicated to the honorary tenants was formed. The exhibitions were intended for the guests of the house. But gradually the exposition was replenished, and the idea of the museum became more stable and interesting.

Today Museum House on the Embankment – this is one of the most unusual and interesting places. It cannot be called a classical museum, as the traditional concept is not supported. After all, the exposition – it is nothing more than a part of the life of someone's life. And even the unification with the Gulag was not accepted by everyone positively. Nevertheless, the exhibition is popular with tourists.

Space acquaints people with how the KGB generals lived, which of the country's famous faces were repressed and who died at the front. At different times, people lived in this house, each of whom deserves a separate exhibition. Until now, there are many rumors about the house, and pensioners living nearby still remember interesting facts and events that even guides do not always know.

The museum is located on Serafimovich Street. The cost of tickets for visiting is from 100 rubles for schoolchildren to 500 rubles for adult visitors. It is possible to arrange a separate excursion support.
