What to do here:

Once there was the most common nursery of lilacs. Here they grew up seedlings for landscaping parks and boulevards of the capital. But in 1954, at the initiative of the famous Soviet breeder Leonid Kolesnikov, a garden was created. First, in the garden planted lilac bushes 32 different varieties. Among them are unique, existing today in a single copy. There are bushes of varieties bred in the garden more than 70 years ago; they are valued all over the world.

The “Lilac Garden” pride is a lilac variety “Dzhambul”, its flowers reach a size of up to two centimeters, and the delicate lilac petals are decorated with a white border. In the middle of the last century, Kolesnikov selected more than three hundred varieties of lilac. But unfortunately, only about fifty have survived to our days. Work is underway to restore the lost species of ornamental shrub.

By the way, several varieties of lilac, which Leonid Kolesnikov brought out at one time, are blooming today in the garden of Buckingham Royal Palace in London. Kolesnikov's lilac is in the Taynitsky Kremlin garden. It can be found all over the world.

Additional information: in 2014, the park was completely renovated. Now the light and music fountain is working here, and for the convenience of visitors, neat paths and alleys with cozy benches have been updated and laid. The entire territory of the park is equipped with a modern lighting system, 24-hour security is provided, there are toilets for visitors.

The park staff is trying with all its might to restore the old resources: at the moment, 126 new lilac seedlings of rare, selection varieties have been planted here. Without exaggeration, the Lilac Garden Park can be called the Lilac Open-Air Museum. Although why open? In recent years, the reserve's infrastructure has been actively developing, now you can comfortably spend time in any season, regardless of weather conditions.

Since 2015, a closed pavilion for lectures and seminars has been operating on the territory of the “Lilac Garden”, a modern and safe playground for the youngest guests is equipped, there is an experimental garden and two WorkOut platforms that can also be viewed with one of the institution’s employees.

And most importantly - all these incredible beauty of nature and dizzying aromas are completely free!
