Among the dozens of Moscow museums of the most diverse subjects and orientation, this one stands out with the most complete expositions representing the history of cultural development in the countries of the Middle East and Asia. On October 30 of this year, the museum will be exactly one hundred years old - large-scale events are expected. During all this time, 147,500 exhibits were collected, most clearly and fully describing the art of Buryatia, Kazakhstan, Chukotka, the Caucasus and Transcaucasia, India, Japan and China.

The most ancient Buddhist sculptures are presented in individual exhibits at the Museum of the East; admirers of ancient rarities can also admire painting on scrolls, sculptures made of bone and wood, ancient weapons and household items. Collectible miniature sculptures, priceless jewelry and tableware, hand-made textiles are also kept in the funds.

The jewel of the museum is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the work of outstanding cultural figures of the brothers Nicholas and Svyatoslav Roerich. In addition to ten permanent exhibitions, the museum hosts exhibitions of contemporary art by domestic and foreign artists and sculptors.

By the way, several years ago, the Museum of the East received from the President of Russia the official status of “a particularly valuable object of Russia's cultural heritage.” To date, the Museum also operates a Research Institute, under the guidance of two doctors of science there are another twenty candidates for the doctor of science.
