Hockey in Russia — a game for real men   and a truly massive and popular sport. More than one generation has grown up on the outstanding successes of the legends of Soviet hockey - and today our hockey players are regularly ranked among the best in the world. There are more than 50 operating indoor  ice rinks in Moscow - several more facilities are under construction or reconstruction.

Below is a list of the 5 largest and most important hockey venues in the capital — starting from the largest in capacity.

  1. CSKA-Arena — opening date 2015 with a stadium capacity of more than 12,100 spectators in a hockey configuration.  The multifunctional sports complex consists of several arenas, each of which can turn into a platform for any large-scale event  — hockey, MMA fights, figure skating, ice show, basketball or world-class concerts. Address - Avtozavodskaya, 23 A.
  2. DS "Megasport"   named after A.V. Tarasov - the opening took place in 2006, its capacity is about 12,000   people, it also includes several halls for competitions and concert performances. The ice arena, as well as other halls of the unique complex, meets all the requirements for holding international sports events. DC was the venue for the 2007 Ice Hockey World Championship and the 2011 World Figure Skating Championship. Address — Khodynsky boulevard, 3.
  3. DS «Luzhniki» - the most famous and oldest ice complex in the capital, built in the middle of the 20th century. At the time of construction, it was the most technologically advanced and modern ice arena, today Luzhniki underwent a complete reconstruction before the opening of the 1980 Olympic Games, the capacity of the ice rink is 8700 people. In 2002, the building of the Sports Palace underwent a significant reconstruction in accordance with the requirements of the new time. Address — Luzhniki, 24, building 9.
  4. VTB Arena (Small Sports Arena) — has been open since 2019 and today is the  coolest hockey arena in the city — with a unique design and the possibility of transformation for sports and cultural events. The capacity of the Small Hockey Arena for matches or ice shows is 11488 spectators. Address — Leningradsky prospect, 36.
  5. Ice Palace Krylatskoye —  the complex was opened in 2004; All-Russian and international competitions are held here at the level of championships, national and world cups, mass competitions. A sports school operates on the basis of the Palace. Ice Palace in Krylatskoye is considered the best in the capital - it is not for nothing that all-Russian competitions in bandy, speed skating and figure skating are held here. The capacity of the site is 7200 spectators.  Address — Krylatskaya, 16.
