Park "Zaryadie": a new life of a famous place

Zaryad Park is one of the most unusual sights located in the center of Moscow. Today, the famous project is not yet fully implemented. However, tourists are already attracted by a new interesting place. What can you see in “Zaryadie” and what are the distinctive features of this place?

Time of occurrence

The project, on which the construction of a modern park began as a result, has been developed since 2010. Russian urbanists and famous American designers began to implement it in 2014. The main stages of construction were carried out until 2017. The park is already open to visitors. In the summer of 2018, it even held mass events related to the World Cup.

History of creation

On the site of the modern “Zaryadia” there used to be the not less famous hotel “Russia”. Her demolition work was completed in 2006. Zaryad Park is located on an area of ​​13 hectares. It is located between Moskvoretskaya embankment and Kitaygorodskiy passage. The Zaryadya project was fully funded from the state budget. 27 billion rubles were spent on its implementation. The park is located in the area of ​​the same name, which, in turn, got its name due to its location. Zaryadye is located behind the trade rows that were once located here. Its territory itself was settled by eminent European families, which were forcibly expelled from the capital in 1891. Their wealthy houses fell into neglect, and the Zaryadye district became a sort of slum. Hotel "Russia" was built on this site in 1967, but was unprofitable and was closed in 1990. The project to create a modern park in this area was proposed by Vladimir Putin.

Distinctive features

Distinctive features of the park “Zaryadie” is a modern design that fits in perfectly with the concept of old Moscow. On its territory are located real art objects, for example, the concert hall “Charges”. This is a semicircular arena with glass elements. At the moment, the largest philharmonic in Moscow is being built in the park. It consists of two halls. The facades of the modern building are built into the hills.

Zaryadie today

Zaryadie works from September 11, 2017. The park has entertainment, historical monuments, educational tours and souvenir shops. In 2019, it is planned to open an ice cave on the territory of “Zaryadye”.
